Mediation is when parties bring in a neutral third party as a form of intervention when they cannot resolve a dispute. Meeting are held to discuss and negotiate various issues in their relationship.
Some couples use the services of a mediator when they are at an impasse in making significant decisions, including a prenuptial agreement. Other times, a mediator helps the couple to negotiate all, or some, of the terms of a parenting plan or for their separation or divorce. The agreements are then written up in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and sent to an attorney for final drafting of the legal document, which is then entered into court.
It is important to know, the mediator can not enforce the agreements made.
